Biografía
Conocido entre los judíos por el acrónimo Ramban, en el mundo latino por NaÊmánides y en el Reino de Aragón por Bonastruc ça Porta (Saporta), aunque fue una personalidad intelectual que gozó de un gran prestigio en las comunidades judías del siglo XIII por sus comentarios sobre algunos libros de la Biblia, abarcó en su actividad gran cantidad de campos del saber. Nació en Gerona, por lo que fue llamado GerundÌ. De su vida es muy poco lo que se ha transmitido. Se conocen algunos nombres de su familia: fue nieto de YiîÊaq ben Rě’uben, uno de los cinco ilustres maestros del siglo XI que con ese nombre menciona Abraham ben Daud. Fue, al parecer, hermano de Benveniste de Porta (muerto en 1268), que ocupó un puesto importante en la corte de Jaime I como economista y que fue baile en Barcelona, y primo de Yonah ben Abraham GerundÌ (muerto en 1263), autor de un Comentario al libro de los Proverbios y de varios escritos morales, famoso por su lucha contra el racionalismo y la filosofía de Maimónides.
